the Sabbath was dawning

who had come with Jesus out of Galilee
"who had traveled with Jesus from the region of Galilee"
followed after
"walked along behind Joseph and the men who were with him"
saw the tomb
"the women saw the tomb"
how his body was laid

They returned
"The women went to the houses where the women were staying"
prepared spices and ointments
These were used in the burial process in that time. AT: "prepared spices and ointments to prepare Jesus' body for burial" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-explicit)
they rested
"the women did no work"
according to the commandment
"according to the Jewish law" or "as the Jewish law required." They were not allowed to prepare his body on the Sabbath according to the law.
