Connecting Statement:
Paul continues stating his desire for Israel to believe but emphasizes that both those who are Jews as well as everyone else can only be saved by faith in Jesus.
Brothers
Here this means fellow Christians, including both men and women.
my heart's desire
"Heart's" here is a metonym for his entire self. AT: "my greatest desire" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-metonymy)
is for them, for their salvation
"is that God will save the Jews"
I testify about them
"I declare truthfully about them"
For they do not know of God's righteousness
Here "righteousness refers to the way God puts people right with himself. You can make this explicit in the translation. AT: "For they do not know how God puts people right with himself" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-explicit)
They did not submit to the righteousness of God
"They did not accept God's way of putting people right with himself"
