Pharaoh came close

The word Pharaoh here is used to refer to the entire Egyptian army. (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-metonymy)

and they were terrified

AT: "and they were very afraid"

Verses 11-12

The Israelites used these rhetorical questions to express to Moses their frustration and fear of dying. (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-rquestion)

"Is it because there were no graves in Egypt, that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness?

AT: "There are plenty of graveyards in Egypt for us to be buried in. You did not have to take us into the wilderness to die!"

Why have you treated us like this, bringing us out of Egypt?

AT: "You have led us out of Egypt to be killed."

We said to you, 'Leave us alone, so we can work for the Egyptians'?

AT: "We told you to leave us alone so we can continue to be slaves of the Egyptians."
