Epicurean...philosophers

People who believed all things were formed by chance. They also believed that the gods were too busy being blessed and happy to be bothered with the governance of the universe. They rejected the resurrection. (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/translate-names)

Stoic philosophers

People who believed freedom comes from resigning oneself to fate. They rejected a personal loving God and the resurrection.

what is this babbler

"babbler" was used to refer to birds picking up seeds as food. It is a negative term used for gossipers. The philosophers said Paul is someone who has bits of information which were not worth listening to.

Others said

"other philosophers said"

He seems to be a preacher

"He seems to be a proclaimer" or "He seems to be on a mission of spreading the message"

Strange gods

This is not in the sense of "odd", but in the sense of "foreign", that is, non-Greek/Roman gods.
