Определение:

Предать — значит действовать обманом, вероломно, преследуя свои цели. Предателем считается человек, поступивший нечестно с теми, кто ему доверял.

Иуда Искариот стал предателем, оказав помощь иудейским начальникам в аресте Иисуса. Иуда получил деньги от иудейских начальников в обмен на информацию о том, где находился Иисус. Вскоре после этого его Учитель был схвачен и казнён.

В зависимости от контекста слово “предать” можно перевести как “поступить подло”, “причинить вред”, “перейти на вражескую сторону”, “поступить вероломно”.
Существительное “предатель” можно заменить словами “изменник”, “доносчик”, “перебежчик”.
