Holy Spirit, Spirit of God, Spirit of the Lord, Spirit

Facts:

These terms all refer to the Holy Spirit, who is God. The one true God exists eternally as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit is also referred to as "the Spirit" and "Spirit of Yahweh" and "Spirit of truth."
  • Because the Holy Spirit is God, he is absolutely holy, infinitely pure, and morally perfect in all his nature and in everything he does.
  • Along with the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit was active in creating the world.
  • When God's Son, Jesus, returned to heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit to his people to lead them, teach them, comfort them, and enable them to do God's will.
  • The Holy Spirit guided Jesus and he guides those who believe in Jesus.

Translation Suggestions:

  • This term could simply be translated with the words used to translate "holy" and "spirit."
  • Ways to translate this term could also include "Pure Spirit" or "Spirit who is Holy" or "God the Spirit."
