Silver is a shiny, gray precious metal used to make coins, jewelry, containers, and ornaments.

  • The containers would include silver cups and bowls, among other things used for cooking, eating, or serving.
  • Silver and gold were used in the building of the tabernacle and the temple.The temple in Jerusalem had containers made of silver.
  • In Bible times, silver coins and silver weights called shekels were used.
  • Joseph's brothers sold him as a slave for twenty shekels of silver.
  • Judas was paid thirty silver coins for betraying Jesus.
