| In the year of three to the reign of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came {to} Jerusalem and besieged against it. | After King Jehoiakim had been ruling Judah for almost three years, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to Jerusalem with his army and surrounded the city. |
Nebuchadnezzar came to Jerusalem in the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the Lord gave into his hand Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and some of the vessels of the house of God. And he brought them {to} the land of Shinar, {to} the house of his god, and he brought the vessels {into} the house of treasure of his god. | {After two years,} the Lord allowed Nebuchadnezzar to capture Jehoiakim, the king of Judah. They also captured some of the things that the priests used in God’s temple. They brought them back to Shinar, and Nebuchadnezzar put them in the treasury of the temple of his god. |
The Lord gave Nebuchadnezzar victory over Jehoiakim.

| Then the king told Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring from the sons of Israel, both from the seed of the kingdom and from the nobles, | Then Nebuchadnezzar commanded Ashpenaz, the chief official in his palace, to bring some Israelite men to Babylon. He wanted men who belonged to important families, including the family of the king of Judah. |
The king told Ashpenaz to bring to Babylon some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility.

| youths in whom was not any blemish and {who were} good of appearance and being skillful in all wisdom and knowers of knowledge and understanders of knowledge and in whom was strength to stand in the palace of the king, and to teach them the writing and tongue of the Chaldeans. | He wanted young men who were healthy, handsome, and very intelligent. They needed to be people who had learned and understood many things. They had to be capable of working in the palace. People were to teach them the language and literature of the Chaldeans. |
The king wanted young men without blemish, attractive in appearance, skillful in all wisdom, filled with knowledge and understanding, qualified to serve in the king’s palace.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the king assigned to them the matter of a day in its day from the portion of the king and from the wine of his drinking, and three years for their upbringing, and from the end of them they would stand to the face of the king. | The king told his servants to give them each day the same food and wine that he ate and drank. He told them to train them for three years. After that, they could work for him. |
Each day the king assigned them a portion of his own food and of the wine he drank, and he arranged for them to be trained for three years.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And among them from the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. | Among the Judeans whom Ashpenaz brought to Babylon were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. |
Daniel was called Belteshazzar; Hananiah was called Shadrach; Mishael was called Meshach, and Azariah was called Abednego.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the chief of the eunuchs gave names to them. And to Daniel, he gave Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, Shadrach; and to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego. | The chief official gave them Babylonian names. He called Daniel Belteshazzar. He called Hananiah Shadrach. He called Mishael Meshach. And he called Azariah Abednego. |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| But Daniel set upon his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king or with the wine of his drinking. So he sought from the chief of the eunuchs that he would not defile himself. | But Daniel resolved not to make himself ritually unclean by eating the same food that the king ate or drinking the same wine that he drank. So he asked the chief official for permission to eat and drink something else. |
Daniel decided in his heart that he would not defile himself by eating the king’s food or drinking his wine.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And God gave Daniel to favor and to compassions to the face of the chief of the eunuchs. | God caused the chief official to respect Daniel and to want to help him. |
God caused the chief official to show favor and compassion to Daniel.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I, I fear my lord the king, who has assigned your food and your drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the youths who {are} like your age? Then you would endanger my head with the king.” | However, the chief official told Daniel, “My master, the king, ordered us to give you his own food and drink. So I am afraid of what he might do to me if I let you eat something else. Suppose he saw that you were not as healthy as the other young men who are your age. Then he might execute me!” |
The chief official told Daniel that he feared the king, who had assigned Daniel’s food and drink, and that the king might behead him if he saw Daniel looking worse than the other young men of his age.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, | So Daniel spoke instead to the man whom the chief official had appointed to care for him and for Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. |
Daniel asked the steward to test them for ten days by giving them only vegetables to eat and water to drink, and then to compare their appearance with that of the young men who ate the king’s food, and then decide what to do based on what he saw.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| “Please test your servants {for} ten days, and let them give to us from vegetables, and let us eat, and water, and let us drink. | He asked him, “Please let us try something for ten days. Give us only beans, grains, and vegetables to eat and only water to drink. |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then let our appearances be seen to your face, and the appearance of the youths eating the portion of the king, and according to what you see, do with your servants.” | Then examine us and see how we look. Compare us to the other young men who are eating the same food as the king. Based on what you see, decide what food you will let us eat.” |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And he listened to them in this matter, and he tested them {for} ten days. | The man agreed to do what Daniel suggested. He let them try eating and drinking something different for ten days. |
The steward observed that Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah looked healthier and better fed than all the young men who ate the king’s food.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And at the end of ten days, their appearances, it was seen better and fatter of flesh than all of the youths eating the portion of the king. | After those ten days, he saw that Daniel and his friends looked better and healthier than all the young men who had been eating the same food as the king. |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| So the steward was taking away their portion and the wine of their drinkings, and he was giving vegetables to them. | So after that, the guard allowed them to keep eating only beans, grain, and vegetables. He did not make them eat the same food and drink the same wine as the king. |
The steward continued to take away their portion of the king’s food and wine and gave them vegetables instead.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And these four youths, God gave to them knowledge and skill in all writing and wisdom, and Daniel understood all visions and dreams. | God enabled those four young men to learn what the Babylonians were teaching them. He enabled them to understand their literature and to learn to think wisely. He enabled Daniel to understand what visions and dreams meant. |
God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom, and Daniel understood all visions and dreams.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And at the end of the days, when the king had said to bring them in, then the chief of the eunuchs brought them to the face of Nebuchadnezzar. | The king had said to bring the young men to him at the end of those three years. So the chief official brought them into the presence of Nebuchadnezzar. |
The chief of the eunuchs brought them before Nebuchadnezzar.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the king spoke with them, and none was found from all of them like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they stood to the face of the king. | The king spoke with each young man. He realized that none of the others were as capable as Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So he included those four young men among his advisors. |
The king found that none of them could compare with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. In every matter of wisdom and understanding that the king asked them about, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And every matter of wisdom {and} understanding that the king sought from them, then he found them ten hands above all of the magicians {and} enchanters who {were} in all of his kingdom. | Whenever the king asked them to help him understand something, he found that what they told him was much better than what any of the magicians or sorcerers in his kingdom told him. |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And Daniel was {there} until the year of one to Cyrus the king. | Daniel remained an advisor in the royal court right up to the time when Cyrus became king. |
He was there until the first year of King Cyrus.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And in the year of two to the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams. And his spirit was troubled, and his sleep finished for him. | One night during the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream. The dream worried him very much. As a result, he could not get back to sleep. |
This occurred in the second year of his reign.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then the king said to call the magicians and the enchanters and the sorcerers and the Chaldeans to declare to the king his dreams. And they came, and they stood to the face of the king. | So he told his servants to summon his magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, and other advisors. He wanted them to tell him what he had dreamed and what it meant. They came and stood in his presence. |
The king wanted these men to tell him about his dreams.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the king said to them, “I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream.” | He told them, “I have had a dream, and it has worried me. I want to know what I dreamed.” |
The king told them that he had dreamed a dream and that he wanted to know what it meant.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then the Chaldeans said to the king {in} Aramaic, “O King, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will show the interpretation.” | The advisors replied to the king, speaking in Aramaic, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we hope you live for a long time! Tell us what you dreamed, and we will tell you what it means.” |
The Chaldeans asked the king to tell them the dream so they could tell him what it meant.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| The king answered and was saying to the Chaldeans, “The word from me {is} firm. If you do not make me know the dream and its interpretation, you will be made {into} limbs, and your houses will be made a rubbish heap. | But the king replied to them, “I am giving a strict command. If you do not tell me what I dreamed and what it means, I will order my soldiers to cut you into pieces. I will also order them to destroy your houses completely. |
The king wanted the wise men to reveal the dream to him and also to interpret the meaning of the dream for the king.
The king said that if they failed, their bodies would be cut into pieces and their houses would be turned into piles of rubbish.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| But if you show the dream and its interpretation, you will receive gifts, a reward, and great honor from before me. Therefore, show me the dream and its interpretation.” | But if you do tell me what I dreamed and what it means, I will reward you. I will give you splendid gifts, and I will greatly honor you. So tell me what I dreamed and what it means!” |
The king said he would give that person or persons gifts, a reward, and great honor.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| They answered again and were saying, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will show the interpretation.” | But again they replied, “Please tell us what you dreamed, and then we will tell you what it means.” |
They said again that the king should tell them the dream, and they would tell him what it meant.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| The king answered and was saying, “I am knowing for certain that you are buying time all before that you see that the word from me is firm. | The king responded, “I recognize clearly that you know that I will certainly do what I have said, so you are trying to get more time. |
The king said that the advisors were trying to get more time because they knew he would carry out what he had said.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| But if you do not make me know the dream, your decree is one. For you have agreed together to speak a false and corrupted word before me until that the time is changed. Therefore, tell the dream to me, and I will know that you do show me its interpretation.” | But if you do not tell me what I dreamed, I will do to you exactly what I said. I believe that you have all agreed to tell me a false explanation of my dream so that I do not punish you. So I insist that you tell me what I dreamed. Then I will know that you can also tell me what it really means.” |
The king said they had agreed to tell him a false explanation until the situation changed.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| The Chaldeans answered before the king and were saying, “There is not a man upon the earth who is able to show the matter of the king, all before that any great and powerful king has not asked a matter like this from any magician or enchanter or Chaldean. | The advisors replied to the king, “There is no one on the earth who can tell you what dream you had! That is why no king, even a great and mighty one, has ever asked any of his magicians or enchanters or other advisors to tell him what he dreamed. |
The Chaldeans said that there was not a man on earth who could meet the king’s demand, only the gods could do that.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| For the matter that the king asks {is} difficult, and there is not another who will show {it} before the king except the gods, who, their dwelling is not with flesh.” | What you are asking us to do is impossible. The only beings who could tell you what you dreamed are the gods, but they do not live among us people!” |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| All before this, the king became angry and became very furious, and he said to destroy all of the wise men of Babylon. | When the king heard that, he became extremely angry. He commanded his soldiers to execute all the wise men in Babylon. |
The king became extremely angry, and he commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be executed.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And the decree went out that the wise men were to be killed. And they sought Daniel and his friends, to be killed. | Because the king had commanded his soldiers to kill all the wise men, some soldiers went to find Daniel and his friends so that they could kill them. |
The king decreed that all those known for their wisdom were to be put to death.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch the captain of the guard of the king, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon. | Arioch, the commander of the king’s bodyguard, was leading the soldiers who came to kill Daniel and his friends. And Daniel spoke to him wisely and tactfully. |
Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to Arioch. He asked Arioch why the king’s decree was so urgent.
He was the captain of the king’s guard, the one who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| He answered, saying to Arioch, the commander of the king, “Upon what {is} the decree from before the king being urgent?” Then Arioch made Daniel know the matter. | He asked Arioch, the king’s officer, “Why did the king give such a harsh command?” Then Arioch explained to Daniel what had happened. |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then Daniel went in and sought from the king that he give time to him, that he might show the interpretation to the king. | Daniel went to the king and asked him to give me some time so that he tell him his dream and what it meant. |
Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time so that he could tell the king what his dream meant.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then Daniel went to his house, and he made Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his friends, know the matter, | Then he went home and told his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah what had happened. |
Daniel told his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah what had happened.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| that they might seek mercies from before the God of the heavens concerning this mystery, that they might not destroy Daniel and his friends with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. | He asked them to pray to God in heaven and ask him to be merciful to them and show them what the king had dreamed and what it meant. Then the king’s soldiers would not kill them, even if they killed the other wise men in Babylon. |
Daniel asked them to seek mercy from the God of heaven about the mystery, so that he and his friends would not be killed with the other wise men of Babylon.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of the heavens. | That night God revealed the dream and its meaning to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised God. |
Daniel praised the God of heaven.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Daniel answered and was saying, “May his name, of God, be blessed from eternity and to eternity, for wisdom and power, for {they} are to him. | He said, “People should praise God forever! He is the one who is truly wise and powerful. |
Daniel said that wisdom and power belong to God, and that God’s name should be blessed forever.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And he {is} the one changing times and seasons, the one removing kings and setting up kings, the one giving wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the knowers of understanding. | He controls the different things that happen at various times. He stops some kings from reigning, and he makes other kings start reigning. He is the one who enables people to be wise and to understand difficult things. |
Daniel said that God removes kings and sets up kings, and that God gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who understand.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| He is revealing the deep and the hidden; he knows what {is} in the darkness, and the light is lodged with him. | He reveals things that are very mysterious. Everything is light where he is, but he also knows what happens where it is dark. |
Daniel said God reveals deep and hidden things, and that God knows what is in the darkness because the light is with him.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| God of my fathers, I am thanking and praising {you}, for you have given wisdom and power to me. And now, you have made me know what we sought from you, for you have made us know the matter of the king.” | You are the God whom my ancestors worshiped. I thank you and praise you because you have made me wise and strong. You have revealed to us what the king dreamed and what it meant. So you have done just what we prayed you would do.” |
Daniel thanked the God of his ancestors for the wisdom and power the God of his ancestors had given him.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| All before this, Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went, and thus he said to him, “May you not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Bring me in before the king, and I will show the interpretation to the king.” | Then Daniel went to Arioch, the man whom the king had appointed to execute the wise men of Babylon. He said to him, “Please do not kill us wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him what his dream means.” |
Daniel went in to see Arioch.
Daniel told Arioch not to kill the wise men in Babylon. Daniel told Arioch to escort him before the king so Daniel could tell the king the dream’s meaning.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then Arioch, in hastening himself, brought Daniel in before the king, and thus he said to him, that “I have found a man from the sons of the captivity of Judah who will make the king know the interpretation.” | So Arioch quickly took Daniel to the king. He told the king, “Here is one of the men whom our soldiers brought from Judah. He says that he can tell you what your dream means.” |
Arioch told the king that he had found a man from the captives of Judah who could tell the king the interpretation of his dream.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| The king answered and was saying to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you being able to make me know the dream that I saw and its interpretation?” | The king spoke to Daniel. (He called him Belteshazzar.) He asked, “Can you really tell me what I dreamed and what it means?” |
The king asked Daniel whether he was able to tell him the dream that he had seen and its interpretation.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Daniel answered before the king and said, “The mystery that the king has asked, wise men, enchanters, magicians, diviners, are not being able to show to the king. | Daniel replied to him, “No wise man or enchanter or magician or fortuneteller could tell you what you want to know. |
Daniel said that they were not able to show the king the mystery that he had asked about.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| However, there is a God in the heavens revealing mysteries, and he has made King Nebuchadnezzar know that which will be at the end of days. Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed was this. | But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown you, King Nebuchadnezzar, what will happen in the future. This is what you saw in your dream as you were lying on your bed. |
Daniel said there is a God who lives in the heavens, who reveals secrets.
Daniel said the dream was about what would happen in the days to come.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| You, O king, your thoughts arose upon your bed {about} that which will be after this, and the revealer of mysteries has made you know that which will be. | Your Majesty, while you were sleeping, you dreamed about what is going to happen in the future. God, who reveals secrets, has shown you what is going to happen. |
Daniel said the king had been thinking about what will happen in the future, and that God had revealed to him what that will be.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And I, this mystery has been revealed to me not because of wisdom that is in me more than all of the living, but for the purpose that they may make the king know the interpretation and you may know the thoughts of your heart. | I do not know your dream and its meaning because I am wiser than anyone else on earth. It is because God wants you to understand what your dream means. It explains what you were wondering about. |
The dream was revealed to Daniel so that the king might understand the meaning and know the thoughts deep within himself.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| You, O King, were looking, and behold, a huge statue. This statue {was} great, and its splendor {was} exceeding. It stood before you, and its appearance was terrifying. | Your Majesty, in your dream you saw a giant statue standing in front of you. It was very impressive, and it was shining very brightly. It was frightening to look at it. |
The statue was large and had a head of gold, a chest and arms of silver, its middle and thighs were bronze, its legs of iron and its feet part iron and part clay.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| This statue, its head {was} of fine gold; its chest and arms, of silver; its belly and its thighs, of bronze; | The head of the statue was pure gold. Its chest and arms were silver. Its belly and thighs were bronze. |
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| its legs, of iron; its feet, some of them of iron and some of them of clay. | Its legs were iron, and its feet were partly iron and partly clay. |
The feet of the statue were made partly of iron and partly of clay.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| You were looking until that a stone was cut out, but not by hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and it crushed them. | As you watched, someone cut a rock from a mountain, but it was not a human who did that. The rock {tumbled down and} smashed the iron and clay feet of the statue. It broke them into tiny pieces. |
The king saw a stone cut, but not by human hands. The stone struck the statue’s feet and the whole statue shattered into pieces which the wind carried away.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| Then at once the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold crumbled, and they became like the chaff of the threshing floors of summer. And the wind carried them away, and any place was not found for them. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain, and it filled all of the earth. | Immediately the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold parts of the statue also broke into tiny pieces. Those pieces were as small as the chaff that people separate from grain after they harvest it. The wind blew away all those tiny pieces. Nothing remained. But the rock that had smashed the statue became a large mountain that covered the whole earth. |
The stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| This {was} the dream. And we will tell its interpretation before the king. | That was what you dreamed. Now I will tell you what it means. |
Daniel said they would tell the king the interpretation of the dream.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| You, O king, {are} the king of kings to whom the God of the heavens has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory. | You are a king who rules over many other kings. God, who rules in heaven, has enabled you to rule over them. He has given you great power and much honor. |
Daniel said God had given the king the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And in everywhere that are dwelling the sons of man, the beast of the field, and the bird of the heavens, he has given into your hand, and he has made you rule over all of them. You are the head of gold. | He has made you the ruler of a great territory. It seems as if you have power over every place where people and animals and birds live. The golden head of the statue represents you. |
King Nebuchadnezzar was the head of gold.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And after you another kingdom will arise, earthward from you, and a third kingdom, another, of bronze, that will rule over all of the earth. | But your kingdom will end, and afterward there will be another great kingdom{, which the silver part of the statue represents}. However, it will not be as great as yours. After that, there will be a third great kingdom, which the bronze part of the statue represents. Its king will rule over a very great territory. |
Daniel said another kingdom would arise after his, and then a third kingdom of bronze would rule over all the earth.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And a fourth kingdom will be, strong as iron, all before that iron is crushing and shattering everything. And like iron that is breaking, it will crush and break all of these. | After that, there will be a fourth great kingdom. The iron part of the statue represents that kingdom. It will be very strong, just as iron {is so strong that it} crushes and breaks whatever it strikes. The army of this kingdom will conquer the territory of the previous kingdoms as if it were an iron weapon smashing them. |
Daniel said the fourth kingdom would be strong like iron, and it would crush and break all the other kingdoms.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And that you saw the feet and the toes, some of them clay of a potter and some of them iron, it will be a divided kingdom. For some of the firmness of iron will be in it, all before that you saw iron mixed with the clay of mire. | You saw that the feet and toes of the statue were partly clay and partly iron. That meant that this kingdom will divide into two parts. You saw that there was iron as well as clay, and that meant that this kingdom will still be somewhat strong like iron. |
They meant that the kingdom would be divided, partly strong like iron and partly weak, because the king saw iron mixed with clay.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And {as} the toes of the feet, some of them {were} iron and some of them {were} clay, some of the kingdom will be strong and some of it will be brittle. | However, you saw that there was clay as well as iron in the toes of the statue. That meant that some of this kingdom will be weak{, like clay that breaks easily}, even though some of it will be strong {like iron}. |
They represented that part of the kingdom would be strong and part of it would be brittle.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| That you saw the iron mixed with the clay of mire, they will be mixing themselves by the seed of man, but they will not be cleaving this with this, even as iron does not mix itself with clay. | You saw iron and clay together {in the statue’s feet and toes}. That meant that the rulers of the parts of this kingdom will try to join themselves together through marriage alliances. However, they will not succeed in uniting their realms. After all, iron does not mix with clay. |
Daniel said the kingdoms would not stay united with each other, just as iron does not mix with clay.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| And in the days of those kings, the God of the heavens will set up a kingdom that will not be destroyed to eternities, and the kingdom will not be left to another people. It will crush and finish all of these kingdoms, but it, it will stand to eternities. | While those kings are ruling, God, who rules {everything} from heaven, will establish a kingdom that will never end. No one will ever defeat its king and take over his kingdom. He will completely destroy all those kingdoms, but his kingdom will last forever. |
In those days the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered by another people.
| ULT | UST |
|---|---|
| All before that you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain, but not by hands, and it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made the king know that which will be after this. And the dream {is} certain and its interpretation {is} confirmed.” | You saw a rock that someone, but not a human, cut from a mountain. That rock crushed the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold parts of the statue. It represents this last king. Your Majesty, the great God has shown you what will happen in the future. Since I have told you what you actually dreamed, you can trust that I have also told you what it truly means.” |
Daniel said the dream was certain and its interpretation was confirmed.
